General Casualty Insurance Companies invites area residents to donate non-perishable food items Nov. 12-16 to this year’s Thanksgiving on the Mayflower food drive. Donations will go to the Community Action Coalition for South Central Wisconsin, which supports Sun Prairie’s Sunshine Place and other area food pantries.
This year the food drive aims to collect 10,000 pounds of non-perishable food items. That week WOLX 94.9 disc jockey Adam Elliott will live in a Mayflower moving truck, located at the Meriter Home Health Store, until 10,000 pounds are collected.
Donations can be dropped off in blue collection barrels in the visitor parking lot of General Casualty’s building 200 (1 General Drive, then follow signs to building 200) from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, or at the Mayflower moving truck parked at the Meriter Home Health Store (6200 Nesbitt Rd., Madison) from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. all week.
On Friday, Nov. 16, from 6 to 8 a.m., WOLX will broadcast live from a Mayflower moving truck parked in the General Casualty parking lot. Those who drop off donations that morning can enjoy free doughnuts and giveaways from General Casualty and WOLX.
General Casualty is also challenging area schools to donate. The company will award $1,000 to the school donating the most non-perishable food items. School donations must be at least 400 lbs. to qualify for the award. More information about the Thanksgiving on the Mayflower food drive and school challenge is available on the WOLX Web site, www.wolx.com.
Thanksgiving on the Mayflower is sponsored by General Casualty, Meriter Home Health, Mayflower Transit LLC and Entercomm Communications.
