On Tuesday, August 22, General Casualty began its origin-and-cause investigation into the July 10 explosion at Cedar Grove Resort in Ellison Bay, Wis.
The company issued the following statement:
“The investigation is a routine procedure in settling fire-related insurance losses. Our goal is to determine precisely how and where the explosion began. We expect it will last several days. As we investigate we are dismantling some portions of the building to ensure the safety of everyone inside and the public.
“We know many people are interested in this case, and we will do our best to keep the public informed. However, we have a duty to protect the privacy of our policyholders and claimants.
“As an insurer in Wisconsin for more than 80 years we have built a reputation for settling our claims quickly and fairly while respecting those whom we insure and represent.”
