Thanks in part to the generosity of its employees, General Casualty Insurance Companies is donating $30,500 to the American Red Cross International Response Fund in support of the international relief efforts in Southeast Asia.
General Casualty and Winterthur North America employees contributed approximately $10,300 to aid tsunami victims. Each employee donated an average of $66 to the cause. To support the generosity of its employees, General Casualty contributed 50 cents for every employee dollar donated in addition to a $15,000 corporate gift.
“As an insurance company, we’ve seen first hand the destruction caused by multiple disasters in the U.S. this year. Yet, none can compare to the catastrophic earthquake and tsunamis that struck Southeast Asia,” said Hollie Bowker, General Casualty corporate relations manager. “Right now financial donations are the most effective way to support these relief efforts.”
The Red Cross International Response Fund supports international relief efforts with immediate and long-term support through supplies, technical assistance and other support to those in need.
