10/12/2005: General Casualty lowers homeowners rates, introduces new auto loyalty program in Indiana

General Casualty Insurance Companies is lowering its homeowners insurance premiums statewide in Indiana by an average of 9.3 percent. Decreased rates went into effect for new policyholders Sept. 1 and renewing customers Oct. 1. In addition, Indiana auto policyholders who qualify for the company’s new accident forgiveness program could save between 20 and 50 percent in premium surcharges that result from an at-fault accident.

“We value the loyalty our long-term customers have shown,” said Charles Valinotti, General Casualty assistant vice president of personal lines. “This program is a way to reward them for their clean driving records.”

The new program rewards loyal, sensible drivers by waiving the premium surcharges that can arise following an at-fault auto accident. The savings is available to Premier Auto policyholders who have been insured with General Casualty and free of at-fault accidents for five or more years. Vehicle operators must also have at least seven years of driving experience to be eligible. Valinotti notes that more than 2,200 Premier Auto policyholders in Indiana already qualify for the program.

Homeowners premium savings vary among policyholders, depending on the type of coverage they own, geographic location, deductible level and other factors. Individual auto premium savings are based on similar factors.

General Casualty writes home, auto and business insurance in Indiana through approximately 2,000 independent insurance agencies and serves its Indiana policyholders through a regional office in Indianapolis.
