General Casualty has developed an Accident Forgiveness program to help agents and the company reward their loyal, sensible auto policyholders and increase customer retention. The program compensates these drivers by waiving the premium surcharges that can arise following an at-fault accident. It is currently offered to policyholders in Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin and will be introduced in New York by the end of 2005.
“We value the loyalty our long-term customers have shown,” said Charles Valinotti, General Casualty’s assistant vice president of personal auto. “This program is a way to reward them for their clean driving records. It also addresses our agents’ concerns about retaining customers in this competitive auto insurance market.”
Accident Forgiveness is available to Premier Auto policyholders and waives the premium surcharges resulting from an at-fault accident, if the household has been insured with General Casualty and free of at-fault accidents for five or more years. Vehicle operators must also have at least seven years of driving experience to be eligible. Policyholders could save 20 to 50 percent as a result, depending on the state they live in.
