General Casualty is responding to tornadoes that struck Northern Illinois on Tuesday evening, April 20. General Casualty policyholders are encouraged to contact their local insurance agent if they believe they have suffered property damage from recent storms in the area. Policyholders may also report potential claims directly to the company using ClaimLine24, General Casualty’s 24-hour reporting system, at (888) 737-8256. A General Casualty representative will contact insureds to follow up on their claims.
Company officials recommend that policyholders document damaged property and keep a record of all expenses relating to the loss in order to expedite the claims process.
Claims resulting from Tuesday’s tornadoes are currently being handled by General Casualty’s Freeport staff, though the catastrophe team is on standby in case the claims volume grows significantly. As of Friday the company had about 60 reported claims, consisting of home, auto and business losses, totaling an estimated $1.8 million.
