02/04/2003: General Casualty releases customized quoting/submission tool

General Casualty recently released Marketplace Online, its first online quoting and submission application. The company’s technical and commercial lines staff created the product using feedback from independent agents and regional underwriters.

Marketplace Online is customized for General Casualty’s Commercial Marketplace product. Because numerous types of business qualify for Commercial Marketplace, each with specific needs and underwriting restrictions, the application has underwriting guidelines built into it. The program’s fields and prompts change based on the information entered, so agents never have to skip through unrelated fields or risk missing required fields. Most importantly, it provides real-time quotes that are 100 percent accurate.

"It’s fantastic! I am familiar with other Internet-based rating and issuing systems, and General Casualty has leapfrogged them all when it comes to BOP rating," said D.J. Rodrian, corporate vice president of Rodrian Insurance in Brookfield.

A small group of pilot agents began using Marketplace Online in November, and it rolled out to all General Casualty agents in early December. "It seems to be gaining momentum every day as agents become familiar with the application and experience its benefits as a customized rating and submission tool," said Richard Kalina, General Casualty’s vice president of commercial lines.

The company plans to release an online quoting and submission tool for its contractors program later this year.
