General Casualty claim adjusters and managers, touched by the devastation they witnessed in Ladysmith while responding to the Labor Day catastrophe, presented a $1,250 check for the tornado victims Wednesday.
The funds were collected on Sept. 11 as part of the company's Remember and Rally America Day. "The Eau Claire office decided that this is what Remember and Rally America Day is all about: Americans banning together in a time of need," said Brian Horky, claim territory manager in Eau Claire.
Employees in the small Eau Claire claims office raised $250. General Casualty matched employee's donations with a $1,000 corporate contribution. Horky hand-delivered the check for the Ladysmith Relief Fund to General Casualty agents Kevin Baughman of Ladysmith Insurance Agency and Lynne Kelly and Nancy Chandler of Dairyland Insurance Agency.
General Casualty received 50 claims for property damage to autos, homes and businesses as a result of the Ladysmith tornado.
