11/01/2002: General Casualty names new chief information officer

General Casualty has hired E. Kathleen Rowe as the company’s chief information officer. In her new role, Rowe will be responsible for directing General Casualty’s technology initiatives and leading a staff of 200 in the information and distribution services departments.

Rowe comes to General Casualty with more than 20 years of progressive executive experience in information technology in numerous industries, including large utilities, retail, manufacturing and consumer information services. In her previous positions, she helped companies achieve their business objectives by developing technology frameworks and taking advantage of new technologies. She has recent experience in enterprise architecture, research and development, and mergers and acquisitions.

General Casualty is committed to developing technology and applications that increase the productivity and efficiency of its 10,000 independent insurance agents. With Rowe’s appointment, the company strives to further advance its automation strategy and seeks to grow its business systems capabilities to effectively compete in the highly competitive property/casualty insurance market.

Rowe holds a bachelor’s degree in organizational management from DePaul University and previously served on the governing boards of several professional organizations.
